A long-time aluminium fabrication customer, Matt Gordon of AGTECH, was interviewed about his ongoing experience of working with us.

Matt Gordon, Co-Founder of AGTECH, started his business in the early 1990s in the corner of a rented shed alongside his father. Fast forward twenty years he now builds bespoke spray equipment for customers all over New Zealand. It’s been quite the journey.

In the early days, they mainly worked in the PPE space and built secure safe areas on trucks e.g. toolboxes and service boxes. However, in 2000 they branched into bespoke design and first encountered Roadrunner via another engineering company in Masterton

“Building everything ourselves was becoming a little complex and onerous and we decided to connect 1-2-1 with Roadrunner to see if there might be an opportunity to work together and so we went to meet them… ” says Matt with a smile.

“It was clear from the beginning that it was going to work. They are a good bunch of guys. Just straight up honest kiwis who are really passionate about what they do. It’s a great balanced partnership. We look after them and they look after us.”

The partnership between AgTech and Roadrunner was important as AgTech, like Roadrunner, are dedicated to the custom design and delivery which their clients know and respect. Matt explains,

“No two builds are ever the same, and I needed to be able to work really closely with a company I could trust. It was reassuring to connect with Roadrunner as we could see immediately that we shared similar values, we were both family-owned businesses, and both pride ourselves on the quality and integrity of our delivery.”

Over thirteen years have passed since that first meeting and AgTech and Roadrunner still work closely together.

“We go to the Roadrunner team for specific custom elements of our agricultural spray trucks such as water tanks, underdeck tanks, chemical storage lockers and diesel tanks. They custom fabricate entirely to our specs and work closely with us to collaborate and bring our ideas to life, sometimes also adding in their own creative flair within the boundaries of the requirements.”
